The Children's Village Circle of Friends Annual Dinner

CV Raises Over $500,000 at its Magical Evening fundraising dinner
April 28th at Chelsea Piers

DOBBS FERRY, NY – The Children's Village (CV), which provides critical services to almost 10,000 children and families throughout the New York metropolitan area, hosted its annual Circle of Friends fundraising event on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers. This event raised more than $500,000 for its programs to help children and families in need. Through a generous gift by Pat Lanza, funds raised through the event were matched dollar for dollar.

The theme of the evening was A Magical Evening and featured Mark Mitton, a world-renowned magician and comedian, who performed for the crowd of close to 500 guests. Mr. Mitton, who was honored for his charity work, first discovered The Children's Village through a connection with Educated Canines Assisting with Disabilities (ECAD), an organization that works with CV youth to train dogs for disabled adults and children. Over the years, he has performed at fundraisers for CV and generously shared his magic with the young men at CV’s residential school in Dobbs Ferry, amazing them with his skill. In addition to his work with Children's Village, Mr. Mitton has entertained children in hospital wards throughout New York City, and in war-torn Liberia.

Corporate Award winner JVKellyGroup and CEO Jim Kelly have been supporters of The Children’s Village for many years. Through generous donations and participation in the Circle of Friends Annual Dinner, the organization has been a loyal friend and partner in our mission to help children and families. In addition to their work with Children’s Village, JVKellyGroup and Jim Kelly are proud supporters of many local community programs such as the Leadership Huntington Foundation, Huntington Arts Council, and the Huntington Station Enrichment Center. Through Mr. Kelly’s leadership, JVKellyGroup has become a leading professional services firm specializing in developing and implementing innovative spend management solutions for its expansive list of Fortune 500 clients.
