NYU KiDS Springlfing Gala 2010

The KiDS of NYU Foundation, Inc. 2010 Springfling raised over $3 million at its 19th annual gala held Tuesday evening at the Plaza Hotel.

This year’s event honored Dr. Achi Ludomirsky, director of Pediatric Cardiology, and paid tribute to Dr. Eugenie Doyle, Professor Emerita of Pediatric Cardiology, for their extraordinary contributions to pioneering and advancing the field of pediatric cardiology. A portion of the $3 million raised at this year’s gala—including the leadership gifts from Judy and Jamie Dimon, Jill and Alan Rappaport and Joey Pearson —will enable NYU Langone Medical Center to create the Andrall E. Pearson Professorship in Pediatric Cardiology. Pearson was a longtime friend, board trustee and supporter of NYU Langone and remembered for his commitment and devotion to the institution.

Founded in 1991 by a group of parents and pediatric physicians, KiDS is unique among pediatric philanthropic efforts in that it provides funds to inpatient and outpatient programs that serve children across NYU Langone Medical Center. Today, KiDS is helping establish a strong foundation for a new children’s hospital that will further advance NYU Langone’s tradition of excellence in children’s health, research and education. Gifts from KiDS help build and strengthen vital programs and services, including pediatric medical and surgical care, and including specialty areas like the Division of Pediatric Cardiology.

Special guests in attendance included: Robert I. Grossman, MD, dean and CEO of NYU Langone Medical Center, Jody and John Arnhold, Helane Brachfield-Colvin, Roberta Denning, Jessica Fiorillo and Rodney Eshelman, Trudy and Bob Gottesman, Ruth Gottesman, Steven Mandel, Joanne Pearson, Cathy and Tom Tinsley and Susi and Peter Wunsch. Event Co-chairs included Judy and Jamie Dimon, Janet and Howard Ginsburg, MD, Jill and Alan Rappaport, and Alice and Tom Tisch.

As guests approached the ballroom, two pillars of stacked toys, which will be distributed to the children on the Pediatric Unit of Tisch Hospital, provided an immediate introduction to the gala’s theme as a celebration of compassionate medical care for children.
