NBC Universal Foundation Awards Ceremony

NBC Universal Foundation, the company's philanthropic organization, awarded $200,000 in grants to five worthy New York-based non-profits on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in NYC.

The 2010 recipients are Citizen Schools, Fiver, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity, The Committee for Hispanic Children & Families, and Urban Arts Partnership.

These organizations were selected due to their outstanding and valiant efforts in improving adolescent education and development in underserved communities. Specifically, they have demonstrated their commitment to improving educational opportunities for 6th through 12th grade students.

The check presentation was hosted by Ch 4 New York/NY Nonstop’s David Ushery, anchor and host of ‘The Debrief’ and Jorge Ramos, Telemundo 47 anchor. Also present at the event were Michael Jack, President and General Manager of WNBC and Carlos Sanchez, President and General Manager of Telemundo/WNJU.
