01/09/2012 - By New York, New York

Museum of American Finance 2012 Gala

The Museum of American Finance (48 Wall Street) hosted its annual gala on January 9, where it honored Felix Rohatyn with the 2012 John C. Whitehead Award for Distinguished Public Service and Financial Leadership.

Mr. Rohatyn, special advisor to Kenneth Jacobs at Lazard Frères & Co. after a career at the firm for more than 50years, greeted Vernon Jordan, senior managing director at Lazard, Martin Lipton, founding partner of Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz, and Alan Patricof, managing director and founder of Greycroft Partners LLC, among others.

John Whitehead, former chairman of Goldman Sachs, noted in his remarks that Felix was “a super rainmaker who has worked on more deals than I like to remember.” Mr. Rohatyn also, as chair of the Municipal Assistance Corporation of the City of New York from 1975 to 1993, managed the negotiations that enabled New York City to avoid bankruptcy in the 1970s.

The Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, is the nation’s only public museum and is dedicated to preserving, exhibiting and teaching about American finance and financial history.
