Generations Against Genocide’s Wine Reception and Private Tour of the New York Tolerance Center

On March 4, 2009, over 170 people guests attended Generations Against Genocide’s sold-out wine reception and private tour of the New York Tolerance Center.

The incredibly successful evening was co-chaired by Generations Against Genocide Committee (GvG) members Joshua Kramer and Valerie Tocci.

GvG, a division of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, hosted the event at SWC’s New York Tolerance Center, a state-of-the-art training facility in the heart of Manhattan that uses the lessons of the past to confront the issues of today. This event is the latest hosted by GvG, which also holds an ongoing film series and both educational and social events around New York.

The reception and tour raised more than $2,000 and sponsored fourteen students to take part in the Tools for Teens program at the Tolerance Center. The Tools for Teens program is an intensive all-day educational experience designed to help students understand and constructively challenge stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination. Tools for Teens inspires students to learn from the past, engage in the present and assume responsibility for a better future.

Generations Against Genocide is the latest addition to the Simon Wiesenthal Center family. Founded by children and grandchildren of Holocaust survivors, GvG draws upon the lessons of the Holocaust to bring attention to the plight of victims of genocide worldwide. It furthers the Wiesenthal Center’s goals by empowering a new group of advocates to educate and alert the community about the threats of antisemitism and modern day genocide through grassroots outreach.
