On Thursday, November 10, Central Park Conservancy hosted the inaugural Autumn in Central Park, a dinner to celebrate the Park’s numerous supporters as well as the breathtaking autumn landscape of the City’s worldwide model for urban public spaces.

The event raised $1.1 million for the Park, helping the Conservancy to continue its 30-year practice of Park restoration and enhancement"
The theme of the evening—Trees–came less than two weeks after Central Park lost up to 1,000 trees after a brutal Halloween snowstorm that affected nearly 400 acres of the Park below 86th Street.
Bronson van Wyck created a fall fantasyland, weaving the vibrant autumn palette of red, orange, and gold foliage. He brought over 20 live trees into the tent and created a 26 foot tall wall of leaves, transforming the tent into a spectacular autumnal hideaway. The indoor space blended with a view of the Park’s trees above, which were illuminated and visible through the tent’s dramatic clear ceiling.
The Starlight Orchestra played music that kept the dance-floor crowded until closing. Abigail Kirsch Catering provided the delicious fall favorites including truffled chicken pot pie and pear crumble and, as guests departed, trays of warm chocolate chip cookies served on silver platters by a line of footman.
The Chairmen for the new Park tradition were: Kitty and Tom Kempner, Fiona and Eric Rudin, Gillian and Sylvester Miniter, and Suzanne and Woody Johnson.
Among the guests and supporters were: Suzie and Ainar Aijala, Judy Hart Angelo and John M. Angelo, Kathryn Chenault, Barbara Cirkva, Suzanne and Bob Cochran, Judith-Ann Corrente and Wim Kooyker, Diana and Joe DiMenna, Richard Gilder and Lois Chiles, Amy and John Griffin, Anne and Bill Harrison, Star Jones, Eleanora and Michael Kennedy, Coco and Arie Kopleman, Alexandra Lebenthal, Carol Sutton Lewis and William Lewis, Margaret and Daniel Loeb, Leni and Peter May, Elyse and Michael Newhouse, Lorry and Mark Newhouse, Nancy and Dan Paduano, Jenny and John Paulson, Liz and Jeff Peek, Jenny and Michael Price, Deborah Roberts and Patsy and Jeff Tarr.
